Tips and Advice for Getting Thicker Hair

We would all love to be blessed with a thick and healthy head of hair, but unfortunately this isn’t always the case for a lot of people. Some people just have naturally fine hair, whilst others find themselves suffering from thinning hair. This can be for a number of reasons, including stress, hormone imbalances, aging and malnutrition.

Whatever the reason, it can be a real blow to person’s confidence. For those who feel like this applies to them, we have put together some tips on how you can try to thicken up your hair at home.

Carefully select your hair products

When buying your shampoo, conditioner and stylish products, you should make sure that you avoid the kinds that contain chemicals. Keep an eye out for the brands that are organic, as these don’t contain any chemicals and therefore will not harm your hair.

Avoid heating your hair

As you probably already know, applying direct heat to your hair is one of the biggest reasons for thinning hair and hair falling out. Using appliances such as a hairdryer, straighteners or curlers too often, will have consequences for your hair. They quickly dry out your hair, and leave it feeling extremely brittle.

Adopt a healthy diet

The food that you eat doesn’t only affect your body; it also affects your hair. For healthier and thicker hair, you should make sure that you are eating plenty of protein, vitamins and even some fats. This means eating plenty of chicken, fish, fruit and vegetables. Vitamin B in particular, plays a big part in strengthening and thickening hair.

Don’t over brush or pull your hair

You should avoid using brushes that pull on your hair. It’s a lot better for your hair to use a wide tooth comb, as this is less likely to pull strands of your hair out. If your hair gets tangled up, we suggest taking your time to work through the knots – rushing it will only do more damage.

Hair extensions and hair treatments

If nothing seems to be working, and you still feel like your hair is thinning, then it might be time to consider looking into what other options you have. Hair extensions are a simple and easy way of adding volume to your hair, making it look both longer and thicker. They are attached to your hair and can be brushed and styled exactly the same.

Set of hair and tools for hair style

Other options include hair transplants and hair replacement procedures. A hair transplant is when hair is taken from another part of your body, follicle by follicle and is placed on your scalp. Hair replacement is a cosmetic surgery that provides gradual and progressive hair thickening.
