No matter what situation you are in at the moment, requiring a hair transplant can be a sensitive situation; talking to someone can be harder than anticipated or maybe you are not comfortable talking about it at all.
At KSL, we respect the fact that a hair transplant is a sensitive topic, which is why we have made the decision that you might possibly make in the future easier than ever. Here are the different stages that come before a hair transplant, to make sure that you know exactly what it involves.
Stage 1: Consultation
The first step in deciding whether you want a hair transplant or not is having a consultation. At KSL, we provide a free consultation service so that you can have a chat about any issues that you may have about your current hair situation, or you are wanting a new lease of life for your hair.
Our consultations can occur at any one of our clinics, so we can always ensure that, no matter where you are in the UK, we are always here to help.
During this consultation, if you are interested in undergoing a hair transplant, then there are a couple of things that need to be considered first. These generally tend to include:
- What do you want from a hair transplant?
- How old are you?
- What type of hair texture you desire?
- Do you want a contrast between your hair colour and your skin?
Stage 2: Reflecting on What You Want
This is after your consultation; you go away and have a think about what you want to do. Are you wanting to undergo a hair transplant because you are self conscious and you want to become more confident? Or do you want a completely new style for your head?
Understanding what you want yourself is one of the most important things; undergoing a hair transplant is a life-changing procedure and it does, well and truly, last a lifetime, so you need to be sure that you want to go through with it.
Stage 3: What Happens During the Procedure
If you have made the decision that you want to go through with the procedure, then you are halfway to your goal already! This stage may already be covered within the consultation but it is always great to know a comprehensive breakdown of what will happen during the procedure.
During the hair transplant, which is also referred to as a Follicle Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant, healthy hair follicles from the body are extracted, treated carefully, and then implanted into the portions of the head where there are dead hair follicles that can no longer grow.
Previous hair transplant procedures required grafts to be added to the scalp, which would generally result in a large amount of scarring, which could potentially make the patient feel even less comfortable.
However, with the FUE hair transplant, like the one that we perform here at KSL, the hair follicles are simply implanted into each follicle position, meaning that there is minimal scarring and only one day is required for the entire procedure.
Stage 4: What Will Be the Result
This is one of the most important stages, as it could possibly be the stage that could be responsible for your final decision. You might be thinking throughout the build up ‘What will the end result be like? Will it last forever?’, which is completely normal.
At KSL, the FUE procedure that we can provide is a permanent procedure, since it involves implanting healthy hair follicles; this means that the follicle will be the exact same no matter where it is implanted.
Once the hair follicles have rested in place, they will grow as if it there were like the rest of your hair. Even if you suffer from male pattern baldness and that is the reason why you are undergoing a hair transplant, the FUE procedure is immune to androgenic alopecia, as it is due to the hormones within the hair follicle.
When deciding whether you want to undergo a hair transplant or not, one of the best things to have by your side is someone you can talk to. That’s why, at KSL, we provide an excellent free consultation with our expert hair specialists to ensure that you are getting the right service that is specifically tailored to your needs.
