Our Spring 2016 Hair Trend Predictions

Spring has sprung, but the sunnier weather and longer evenings don’t just mean a wardrobe refresh – it can also be the perfect time to try out a new hairstyle. These are the hair trends we predict will be everywhere in spring 2016:

Poker-straight hair

Straight hair is definitely back in fashion, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of super-smooth, ultra-sleek, glass-like tresses everywhere. It’s time to ditch the curling tongs and dig out your straightening irons.

Grown-out fringe

Worn with a casual centre parting in a soft and textured style, a long fringe gives off a ’70s vibe that’s both effortless and stylish. To get that shaggy texture, make sure you ‘rough’ dry your fringe, moving your fingers back and forth between the hair.

Mid-length blunt cut

The ‘lob’ (long bob) was everywhere last year. But fear not if you are growing yours out – now that your hair is a few inches longer, ask your hairdresser to cut the ends bluntly, but counteract it with a softer texture for the rest of your hair. The best part of this length is the versatility of it – you can wear it in curls, beach waves or bone straight.

Hair Accessories

A pretty hairpiece is sure to put a spring in your step. Investing in hair accessories will not only complete your outfit, it’ll even save you time in the morning. Alice bands, ribbons, slides, combs… there are plenty of options to choose from and they can all add a fun and fashionable twist to any outfit.

Braids

Messy and loose to tight and sleek – braids were all the rage on the festival circuit last year and they show no sign of disappearing. Whether you prefer soft and romantic halo braids, or tight cornrows and braided buns… braids hold their own from dusk to dawn.

‘Bronde’ and ‘baby lights’

Artificial and bright hair colours are now a blast from the past. This season it’s all about natural, healthy-looking hair – and that includes hair colours. Ombré has also been left in 2015 and will be overtaken by ‘bronde’ – a colour that gives the best of both worlds with a brunette base and a subtle touch of blonde. Baby lights are another low-maintenance colour option, offering a softer outgrowth at the root, as opposed to thick bands of highlights.
