If you’ve recently undergone a hair transplant procedure, you’re going to be excited and more confident. But one of the questions that will be on your mind will be “How do I maintain my thick hair?”
To help you out, here are a few things that you can find in a supermarket that can help maintain your hair and keep it thicker and fuller for longer.
At first, this may not seem very nice, but eggs are a great way to increase the thickness of your hair. Eggs contain basic proteins which increase the strength of your hair. So you can create a ‘hair-mask’ made entirely of eggs that you can use on dry or wet hair. In order for it to bind properly to the hair strands, add any hair oil that you generally use (for example, coconut oil) to the egg mixture and apply to your scalp thoroughly. Then wash it out with a conditioner and reap the benefits of thick, healthy hair.
Coconut Oil and/or Desiccated Coconut
Coconuts have been used for hair treatments for thousands of years. Coconut oil has been used for treating thin and dry hair, as it can increase hair volume and adds moisture to your hair. Coconut cream can also be used to soothe your scalp (especially if you have an irritated scalp) and it is also rich in proteins, which increases hair strength. Desiccated coconut is a great remedy for dandruff or even a dry scalp, as it is relaxing and exfoliating for the scalp.
Olive Oil and Honey
Olive oil has been used for everything from skin and hair remedies to cooking for thousands of years, especially in the Mediterranean. Olive oil is very moisturising, so it is excellent for relaxing hair (especially if it is dry and thin) and it can also add body to your hair. Honey is also great for strengthening your hair, so a mixture of these two is a match made in heaven. Massage your scalp with warm olive oil and honey and leave it in for around 30 minutes, then wash it out.
Jojoba, Cinnamon and Spearmint Oil
These oils can be found in health food shops and online shops. They are sometimes referred to as ‘blood oils’ – this basically means that they help encourage blood flow to the regions where you applied these oils (note that you don’t have to use all three together, you can use just one or any combination you like). So, if you apply these to our scalp, they can encourage blood flow there, meaning that it can encourage hair growth. Jojoba and cinnamon oil are particularly good for this, so you can add these to a ‘hair-mask’ as discussed in the previous sections.
