Hair Scare: How To Prevent Your Hair From Tangling

Anyone who has long hair will know the pain of getting tangled it up. It looks messy, and it can be almost impossible (and painful!) to brush.

There are a number of reasons to why hair becomes knotted, from not caring for it properly, to forgetting to tie it up on a windy day.

Here at KSL, we specialise in hair growth treatments, fibre hair replacement and hair extensions in Dundee. This makes us hair experts! So we thought we’d use all this specialist knowledge, and give you some tips on preventing your hair from resembling a bird’s nest!

Trim Your Hair

It doesn’t matter if you have long or short hair, your hair needs trimming regularly. Every time your hair grows, your ends become more dry and brittle, and are more likely to snap.

The split ends of your hair are also more likely to become tangled. This is why it’s important to keep on top of your hair cuts!

Tie Your Hair Up

Tying your hair up if you’re going outside in windy weather can help prevent your hair from getting windswept and ending up extremely tangled up.

It’s also a good idea to tie it up if you’re taking part in any rigorous exercise, as this can also contribute to knots.

Brush Your Hair Before Washing

This might sound strange, but it really does help reduce knotting in hair.  Our hair becomes more tangled after we’ve used shampoo, which can make it a nightmare to brush when you get out. This is why we recommend brushing your hair before you get in the shower, as it will help reduce the amount of tangling.

Also, make sure you use a comb on your wet hair, and don’t be tempted to brush the knots when your hair is wet as this can make it worse.

Condition Your Hair

Using a deep nourishing conditioner in the shower can not only make your hair feel smooth and look shiny, it can also reduce any pesky knots. Bonus!

Our best trick is to use a comb on your hair before you wash the conditioner out – it will make it so much easier to comb afterwards!
